My Way

Dear Friends and Family,

Welcome to my blog! For those who do not know, I am starting my journey on El Camino de Santiago tomorrow. This is a pilgrimage that takes place all over Spain, with starting points all across Europe. I will start in France, walking the Camino frances (this is the most popular!). This pilgrimage is translated to "the walk of St. James" in English. The goal is to finish at the apostle's shrine, located in Galicia, in the Cathedral of  Santiago de Compostela. It is said that his remains are buried in this cathedral. Many take part in this route as a spiritual path and personal growth.

I am traveling with several other students of Roanoke College. This trip is our "May Term", so we will be receiving a credit for this amazing experience. Usually Roanoke's May Terms are three weeks long. However, I'm lucky enough to spend seven weeks in Europe! I have never traveled outside of the United States, so this is a huge deal for me. I couldn't be more excited!

My days will consist of trekking across Spain by foot; meeting other pilgrims, experiencing new cuisines and cultures, witnessing Mother Nature at her finest, and, of course, self reflection. I'm happy to be sharing my adventures with you all! Enjoy!
